The Scotsman and The Basilisk (e-book)

This solo was inspired by life changing experiences surrounding the performance of the United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps at the 2017 Basel Tattoo in Basel, Switzerland. The solo is dedicated to Sergeant Jonny Stranix, Jr., drummer and Drum Major for the iconic Scots Guard, and Colour Sergeant Callum Marr, drummer and Drum Major of the legendary Highlanders, 4th Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Scotland. Throughout this solo you will find blended elements of Scottish, Swiss, and American rudimental drumming styles woven together in an eight-bar format that tries to honor classic musical structure and provide the performer a glimpse into these iconic traditions.
